National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (Orange Shirt Day) Sept. 30th

This week, across the Division, staff and students participated in a variety of activities to honour residential school survivors in their school communities and remember those who did not return home. Many staff members and students wore orange all week as they listened to traditional stories and teachings, practiced speaking the local Indigenous language while learning traditional land-based skills, and demonstrated respect for local Elders and Knowledge Keepers.

Some schools, like Minegoziibe Anishinabe School, held culture camps this week where students helped community hunters process, package, and deliver donated moose and bison meat to Elders and other community members.

Frontier School Division encourages everyone to continue to wear orange through to September 30th and consider participating in one of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation events taking place across the province, see Province of Manitoba | inr - Orange Shirt Day.
